Parcel Baked Onions Recipe

4 medium sized onions, peeled and left whole

1 tablespoon butter divided into 4 pats

1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs, optional

salt and freshly ground black pepper

 

Pace one pat of butter on each foil sheet, sit onion on butter, sprinkle herbs over the onions and season well with salt and pepper. Take up four corners of foil and twist together to seal. Cook alone or with a roast for given time.

 

Variations:

Foil wrap any of the following and cook as suggested above for time given. Whole corn on the cob with salt, sugar and butter: roast for 30 minutes.

Broccoli sprinkled with salt and cheese: 20 minutes.

Tiny new potatoes with salt, butter, and parsley or mint: 20-30 minutes

Quartered turnips with salt, pepper, sugar and butter: 20-30 minutes

Baby carrots with butter, salt and sugar: 15-20 minutes

Bite sized sprouts with butter, lemon juice and black pepper; add salt after cooking for 15-20 minutes.
