Paella Recipe

You will need :-

8 chicken legs

4 tablespoons oil

4 tomatoes

1 teaspoon paprika

10 oz. Patna rice

4 giant prawns

1 small packet frozen green beans

salt

pinch saffron

 

Preparation Time:- 15 minutes

 

Cooking Time :- about 35 minutes

 

Trim the chicken legs and fry in oil until golden brown. Remove and keep to one side.

 

Peel and chop tomatoes. Fry in remaining oil, stir in paprika and add 2 pints water. Bring to the boil, reduce to simmering and return chicken and rice to the pan. Stir well and cook for 10 minutes. Add halved prawns and beans, season well with salt and simmer until all water has been absorbed.

 

Add saffron, mix well and serve from the dish in which it was cooked. Serves 4.

 

Quick Tip

 

To make rice yellow: if saffron (which is sometimes scarce and expensive) is unavailable, use turmeric powder to color the rice. Use just a pinch, otherwise you will have turmeric flavored paella!
