Oven Steamed Rice Recipe

The ideal plan for preparing crowd size amounts of rice. And whenever you're entertaining, what better way to keep the top of the range clear for sauces and skillet dishes?

 

You will need :-

2 cups boiling water

1 cup uncooked regular rice

1 teaspoon salt

 

Heat oven to 350°F. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in ugreased 1 or 1½ quart casserole or in baking dish, 10 x 6 x 1½ or 11½ x 7½ x 1½ inches.

 

Cover tightly. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.

 

For large quantities, double or triple all ingredients and bake in 3 quart casserole or in baking dish, 13½ x 9 x 2 inches.

 

3 to 4 cups cooked rice; 4 to 6 servings.

 

Note: to vary the flavor, substitute chicken or beef bouillon for the water and add spices such as chervil, curry, dill weed, onion, orange peel, parsley or saffron.
