Lasagne Pie Recipe

You will need.....       1/2 packet lasagne verde

                               1 large tin minced beef

                               1 tablespoon tomato puree

                               garlic salt

                               pinch black pepper

Preparation Time      1/4 pint single cream

10 minutes                 2 oz. grated cheese

                       

Cooking Time           

30 minutes                

 

Oven setting            

400ºF; Gas Mark 6     

                            

Cook lasagne for 5 minutes in a large pan of salted, boiling water. Drain and keep hot. Empty meat into a saucepan with tomato puree, garlic salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring well.

 

Arrange the lasagne and meat in layers in a shallow, oven-proof dish, finishing with a layer of meat. Cover dish and cook for 15 minutes in centre of preheated oven.

 

Remove covering and pour cream over top. Sprinkle with cheese and return to oven for a further 10 minutes, or brown under hot grill for 3-4 minutes. Serve immediately. Serves 4.

 

Quick Tip

 

A delicious alternative: use canned chunky stewed steak instead of minced beef and either plain or green lasagne. Season the steak and spread between the partly cooked lasagne. While the pie bakes make a quick tomato sauce to go with it.
