Cheese and Onion Potato Flan Recipe

You will need.....       1 packet instant potato

                               2 oz. plain flour

                               salt and pepper

                               2 oz. butter

                               2 large onions

Preparation Time      1/4 pint milk

20 minutes                4 oz. grated cheese

                             

Cooking Time           

30 minutes                

 

Oven setting            

400ºF; Gas Mark 6

                                                           

Make up the potato as directed. Add 1 oz. flour, salt, pepper and butter. Beat well until smooth. Place the mixture on an ovenproof plate and shape into an 8-inch round. Build up sides to hold the filling.

 

Peel, chop and fry onions in the remaining butter. Add 1 oz. flour, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and gradually add milk. Return to the heat and bring to the boil, stirring all the time until thickened. Season well.

 

Add cheese and heat until melted. Pour into the prepared flan case and bake in the centre of the oven for 25 minutes. Serves 4.

 

Quick Tip

 

Instead of fresh onions, use 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes to make this recipe even more quickly.
