Macaroni and Tuna Layer Pie Recipe |

oz. can tuna fish
1 oz. butter
1 oz. flour
Preparation Time 1/2 pint milk

4 oz. grated cheese
1 tablespoon brown breadcrumbs
Cooking Time

400ºF; Gas Mark 6
Season
macaroni well with salt and pepper. Flake tuna fish. Melt butter
in a small pan, add flour, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove
pan from heat and gradually add milk. Return to heat and bring to the
boil, stirring until thickened. Add half the cheese and season well.
Cook 2-3 minutes. Arrange
macaroni, tuna and sauce in layers in a shallow oven-proof dish,
finishing with a layer of sauce. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and
coat breadcrumbs. Dot with butter and bake in centre of preheated oven
for 15 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Serve very hot.
Serves 4.
Quick Tip
To bear in mind when planning the week's work and menus: this dish can
be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. It takes only 25
minutes cooking before you intend to serve it.
