Lasagne in a Hurry Recipe

 

You will need.....     for the Bolognese sauce :

                             15 oz. can minced steak with onion

                             8 oz. can tomatoes

                             3 level teaspoons tomato puree

                             0.25 level teaspoon mixed herbs

Preparation Time    1 heaped teaspoon sugar

15 minutes               For the cheese sauce :       

                             1 oz. butter

Cooking Time          1 oz. flour

60 minutes               3/4 pint milk

                             1/2 level teaspoon made mustard

Oven setting           1/4 level teaspoon nutmeg

350ºF; Gas Mark 4     6 oz. Gruyere cheese, grated

                             8 oz. lasagne

                             1 tablespoon salad oil

 

Put minced steak in a pan with tomatoes and juice, tomato puree, herbs, sugar and if liked a good shake of garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to boiling. simmer for 5 minutes then put on one side.

 

Make cheese sauce. Melt butter in a pan, blend in flour, then milk and bring to boil, stirring constantly. Simmer for 3 minutes until thick. Stir in 5 oz. cheese, mustard, nutmeg, seasoning. When cheese has melted remove pan from heat.

 

Bring a large pan of salted water to boiling point. Put in  lasagne a piece at a time, add oil and simmer for about 12 minutes or until lasagne is tender Rinse with cold water and drain on a clean tea towel. Layer up lasagne, cheese sauce and bolognese sauce is a shallow, ovenproof casserole, finishing with a layer of cheese sauce. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake in a moderate oven for 40 minutes until top is pale golden. Serves 4-6

Lasagne is a ribbon type pasta. It varies in width from 1.5 to 3 inches. The green lasagne is flavored with spinach.
