Steamed Clams Recipe

 

Wash 6 pounds shell clams ("steamers") thoroughly, discarding any broken-shell or open (dead) clams. Place in a steamer° with 1/2 cup boiling water; steam 5 to 10 minutes or until clams open. Serve hot in shells with melted butter and cups of broth.

 

Serves 6.

 

° If a steamer is not available, add 1 inch water to kettle with clams. Cover tightly
