Panfried Fish Recipe

Try with Hot Tartar Sauce

 

You will need :-

2 pounds fish fillets, steaks or pan dressed fish

1 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 egg

1 tablespoon water

1 cup all-purpose flour, buttermilk baking mix,

cornmeal or grated Parmesan cheese

Shortening (part butter)

 

If fillets are large, cut into serving pieces. Season both side s of fish with salt and pepper. Blend egg and water. Dip fish into egg, then coat with flour.

 

Heat shortening (1/8 inch) in skillet. Turning fish carefully to brown both sides, cook in shortening over medium heat about 10 minutes.

 

Serves 4 - 6.

 

Variation

Fish Almondine: Just before serving, top fish with Almond Butter; Brown 1/4 cup butter or margarine in small skillet: add 1/4 cup toasted slivered blanched almonds, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 2 teaspoons lemons juice.
