Boiled Hard-Shell Crabs Recipe

You will need :-

6  quarts water

1/2 cup salt

24 live hard-shell blue crabs

Cocktail Sauce (below)

 

Heat water and salt to boiling in large kettle. Drop crabs into kettle. Cover; heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer about 15 minutes. Drain, serve crabs hot or cold with Cocktail Sauce.

 

Serves 6.

 

To Remove Meat: With left hand, grasp body of crab with large claws to the right. Break off large claws. Pull off top shell with right hand. Cut or break off legs. Scrape off the gills; carefully remove digestive and other organs located in center part of body.

 

Cocktail Sauce

For fish and seafood

 

1 bottle (12 oz.) chili sauce

1 to 2 tablespoons  horseradish

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 teaspoon salt

Dash pepper

 

Stir together all ingredients. Chill if desired.

About 1.5 cups.
