Oranges In Liqueur Recipe |
||
|
You will need..... 6 large seedless oranges 6 oz. castor sugar 2-3 tablespoons Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Curacao 1 teaspoon lemon juice 2 tablespoon double cream, whipped
Preparation Time
10 minutes
Peel one
orange thinly with a potato peeler. Cut peel in fine shreds. Put in a
bowl and cover with boiling water. Leave for 10 minutes then drain and
put on one side. Cut peel and
pith from all oranges. Cut oranges in thin slices. Arrange orange
slices, overlapping, in a serving dish. Sprinkle with the sugar and
liqueur. Cover and leave in a cold place to chill overnight. Just before
serving top with orange shreds. Serve with whipped cream. Serves 6.
Quick Tip
To prepare orange segments instead of slices, peel orange and remove
pith. Then hold orange in the left hand and, with a sharp knife, dissect
out each segment, leaving the membrane and skin behind. This takes longer
than slices but it is well worth it.
