You will need..... 1 heaped tablespoon golden syrup 5 oz. butter 4 oz. castor sugar 3 oz. rolled oats 2 oz. desiccated coconut Preparation Time 4 oz. plain flour 15 minutes 2 level teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
Cooking Time
20 minutes
Oven setting
335ºF; Gas Mark 3
Grease 2
baking trays. Put the syrup, butter and castor sugar into a pan and
leave to melt over a low heat. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in
the dry ingredients. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in a bowl in 1
tablespoon hot water. Add to the other ingredients and leave to cool
for a few minutes. Divide into
30 portions, roll into balls and place on the baking trays, leaving
plenty of room between each. Bake for
about 20 minutes or until the biscuits have browned evenly. Remove from
the oven and leave on the baking trays for a few minutes to harden.
Cool on a wire tray.
Quick Tip
These
biscuits are fun for children to make. They love rolling the balls for
mixture before baking, If mum does the weighing out first they are easy
to finish, so let these biscuits to be your daughter's first step in
cookery.
