Preparation Time:- 40 minutes

Cooking Time:- 20 minutes

Oven Setting:- 400°F; Gas Mark 6

Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat the eggs and add gradually, beating the mixture well. Fold in the dry ingredients mixing to a soft dropping consistency with a little warm water. Put the mixture into two well greased 7 inch sandwich tins and bake in a moderately hot oven for 20 minutes. Turn out and cool on a wire tray.

Beat the butter until soft and creamy. Add the icing sugar a little at a time beating well. Fill the center of the cake, reserving a little for hands.

Make the glace icing which must be stiff enough to stay on the top of the cake without running down the side. Reserve a little for piping and color as required. Arrange the twelve chocolate drops. Pipe the hands in the desired position, and the numbers on the drops, using a greaseproof piping bag.

Quick Tip

Chocolate shapes: pencil any shapes required on greaseproof paper. Reverse paper and when melted chocolate is on point of setting, place a little on the shape with a teaspoon and run it out. Leave until cold. The shape can then be peeled off the paper.
