Bacon Burgers Recipe

You will need:-

1 lb. collar bacon

1 small onion

1 cooking apple

pepper

1 oz. white breadcrumbs

1 egg, beaten

2 oz. lard

4 oz. mushrooms

4 tomatoes, halved

 

Preparation Time:- 15 minutes plus soaking time for bacon

 

Cooking Time:- 20 minutes

 

Soak collar for 6 hours. Remove rind and mince with peeled onion and peeled and cored apple.

 

Add pepper and breadcrumbs and bind with egg. Form into 4 cakes.

 

Melt lard and fry burgers for 10 minutes on each side, with mushrooms and tomatoes. Serves 4.

 

Quick Tip

 

Sweet cure bacon joints need no soaking. Smoked joint must be soaked in cold water for at least 6 hours, preferably over night and unsmoked joints for at least 2 hours.
