Bacon and Beans Recipe

You will need :-

1 gammon knuckle

1 onion

2 sticks celery

½ oz butter

3 tablespoons wine vinegar

1 tablespoon black treacle

2 tablespoons tomato puree

15½ can baked beans in tomato sauce

 

Bring the gammon knuckle to the boil in plenty of water, then drain and change to fresh cold water. Bring back to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes per lb. and 30 minutes over. When cool enough to handle, dice the meat and discard the rind, fat and bone. Chop the onion and celery and cook in the butter until soft without browning. Add the vinegar, treacle, tomato puree, baked beans and diced meat. Heat through for 10 minute and serve with mashed potatoes.
